The Easter Bunny brought more than baskets and eggs this year, he also brought us a new dog, Yukon.
I’ve been waiting to mention him until I had a picture and this is about as good as I could get. This 8 month old, Alaskan Malamute is harder to get a shot of than trying to get a good picture of both the kids together!
So far I am very happy with this dog, he’s a little hyper but he’s still a puppy. He is great with the kids and that was my #1 priority. He doesn’t even offer to get grouchy with them and trust me, they torment this poor dog. We’re still working on potty training him and I just thank God that we have all hard wood floors in my house. He is getting better and is pretty much making it all night now. I love the fact that he’s kennel trained so if we go away for the night he can go in the kennel and we don’t have to take him every where. He is such a lover and will smother you in kisses. He hates to be scolded and wants to do nothing but please you. So far, I would totally recommend an Alaskan Malamute as a family pet.
Oh Emma can never see this photo. She wants a husky puppy so badly. “Aren’t they sooooo cute, Mama!?” Is all I hear when we see one.
He is sooo cute, by the way.
But tell me more about how hyper he is and potty-training him, so I can remember why I don’t need a dog right now!
He just has to be able to get out and run. Thank God we have a big yard and Steve has been walking him every day (good for both of them). The worst part is that he chews on everything. I am down 2 pair of shoes. He will haul off a diaper as fast as I can get it off one of the kids. He loves the Zhu-Zhu pets. The potty training is only bad a night and if Steve would leave him in his cage we would be fine. He really is a good dog and he will calm down once the puppy is out of him. If you decided to get one, he’s a Malamute, not a Husky. A Husky is smaller but much more active than a Malamute. When we researched them the Malamute is highly recommended as a family dog.
He looks like he might be able to pull a sled with two kids and a Mom in it next winter! 🙂
I thought our dog would slow down once he got older, but he is almost 7 and shows no sign of slowing down yet. Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix! It’s like he has springs in his feet!
