Would someone please make me stop eating this BAG of Rolos I bought yesterday.  I’m popping them like popcorn and they taste oh-so good.   Since I’m washing them down with a Diet Coke Plus the calories don’t count . . . right?

13 Going On Forever

Yesterday was my 13th wedding anniversary and I have to admit, I don’t think I’m old enough to have been married 13 years. Half the time I don’t even act like I’m 13 let alone been married that long.

We didn’t do anything for our anniversary but we rarely do. Sometimes we’ll go out to eat but we hardly ever buy each other presents. Hey, I figure my gift to him is that I stayed another year. . . . kidding.

I can honestly say that right now my marriage is as strong as it’s ever been. We are going through a pretty rough spot right now but it’s not tearing us apart like I think it would many couples, it’s making us closer. We’ve learned not to take so many things for granted and now we appreciate them more. We also know that we’re just having a little “bump” right now but it’s not going to be here forever and we’ll get past it and be better because of it.

All-in-all it’s been a good 13 years and I can’t imagine my life with him. (I look the same today as I did 13 years ago, right?)

Memorial Weekend

I live on a dead-end dirt road where 90% of the houses are vacation properties.  That means that 90% of the time it’s nice and quiet where I live but then we have holiday weekends.  Everyone with property around us will be up with their 5000 friends, quads, fireworks and guns.  I have nothing against people that live in the city but the ones that come up around us just don’t know how to behave when they get to the country.  I live in the country because I like the quiet.  Holiday weekends I have to listen to quads rip and roar around my house all weekend.  I listen to fireworks and loud music well into the night.  Then, the kicker is, I have to listen to guns being fired about 3 seconds for 3 days in a row.  You think I’m kidding?  I won’t even let Rusty out because the gun fire is so close.  If I had a child I would go apeshit on them because there is no way I could let them play in the yard for fear of stray bullet.  A friend of mine calls them the “citidiots” and it’s quite appropriate.

As I said, I have nothing against people that live in the city but the ones that “live” around me really have no respect for those of us that really do live there.  Sometimes we will leave on holiday weekends just so we don’t have to hear it.  This weekend we’re staying home, with gas at $3.65 a gallon we’re not going too far.  I was hoping that it would keep them home but they are already up.  Yippie.

Thank God For Ebay

Since we have been down to just my income for about the last year Steve and I have learned that Ebay can be a great way to supplement our income.  There’s no shame in admitting that, it’s an honest living.  We’ve sold a ton of stuff on there over the past few months and it’s what has kept us going, literally.   The last couple of weekends we have been going to garage sales basically looking for more stuff to sell on Ebay because we’ve about tapped all our stuff just laying around the house we never use.  Well, remember those fork and spoons that people hung on their walls in the 70’s?   I bought some at a garage sale last weekend for 50 cents thinking “the 70’s are back, maybe they’ll sell on Ebay”.  So I listed them with a starting bid of $2.00.  When I left the office at 5:00 last night they were at $2.50.  Hey, that’s a profit.  With 10 seconds to go they were at $6.50 and I was thrilled.  Then I refreshed in 10 seconds to see what it ended at, assuming $6.50 . . . nope, $33.75!  I had to scroll down and make sure I was still on my sale and my computer didn’t take me somewhere else.  I bet I sat there for 30 seconds before I could talk.  I’m going to some more garage sales this weekend!

I swear, I never remember my job slowing down to the point it’s at right now. Summer is always slow around here but it is absolutely dead here this year. DEAD! The silence is killing me. Today I’m going to file a pile of stuff that’s been on desk for 2 years because if I don’t do that I’ll go insane with boredom. After that I’m not sure what I’m going to do for the next several weeks. No, there is always some little thing here and there to do but right now I don’t any interruptions, no students, no faculty, no anything go give me work. Oy!

I’m thinking this is my opportunity to become a better “internet” person. People are always saying to me “just go to such-n-such site” and I have no clue that site exists or anything like it for that matter. Nothing surprises me because I know that anything you want to know can be found on the internet but I never have the chance to explore it. I think this is my opportunity. I’m going to learn how to be a better blogger and be the one that discovers the sites so I can be the one that says “just go to such-n-such site”.

Oh, I also have to get the theatre website up to date, just remembered that . . . there’s a day’s work right there.

Well, It’s Settled

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about my hockey dilemma.  Last night it was all settled, my Detroit Redwings will not be going to the finals, the Anaheim Ducks will taking on the Ottawa Senators.  I was hoping that if the Ducks won they would have to take of the Sabers but that didn’t happen.  Also, my man, Chris Kunitz, is out with a broken hand so he won’t get to play for The Cup.  However, since he has played in the play-offs his name will still be on it if they win (I think that’s the way the rules go).  So, we have to cheer for Anaheim to bring home The Cup this year!  I also have to give praise to the Detroit Redwings, once again they gave us an exciting season with promise of another run for the Cup in ’08.

Retro New Header

I was feeling a little retro today, had some 70’s music playing and decided to change the header to this blog.  Do you like it?  It’s a little loud, may not keep it on there long but I was ready for a change.
