Yesterday was my 13th wedding anniversary and I have to admit, I don’t think I’m old enough to have been married 13 years. Half the time I don’t even act like I’m 13 let alone been married that long.
We didn’t do anything for our anniversary but we rarely do. Sometimes we’ll go out to eat but we hardly ever buy each other presents. Hey, I figure my gift to him is that I stayed another year. . . . kidding.
I can honestly say that right now my marriage is as strong as it’s ever been. We are going through a pretty rough spot right now but it’s not tearing us apart like I think it would many couples, it’s making us closer. We’ve learned not to take so many things for granted and now we appreciate them more. We also know that we’re just having a little “bump” right now but it’s not going to be here forever and we’ll get past it and be better because of it.
All-in-all it’s been a good 13 years and I can’t imagine my life with him. (I look the same today as I did 13 years ago, right?)
Congratulations!
You have the same anniversary date as my parents, by the way.
Really, other than the hair, you don’t look that different. Thank goodness that Steve dosen’t still have those glasses. Kinda hard to believe you’re old enough to have been married for so long.
Congrats, Vic! Man, it feels so old when you say that – huh? It will be 14 for us this year…freakin’ crazy.
I’m so glad to hear that you feel your marriage is strongest now! I think that time really does strengthen the bond.
Here’s to many more happy years – *clink!*
Congratulations!!!
Wow, 13 years is a long time! It’s only been 4 for us. Did I tell you I tried on my wedding dress the other day? OMG! I could swim in the thing! I forgot how beautiful it is. Do you still have yours? We still have wedding presents we haven’t even used yet! Someday we will have to use the fondue pot!
It’s great to hear you are doing so well though, and you are right marriage does have those “bumps” in the road! It’s funny, when you get married you never think about who is going to get up and let the dog out at 5 a.m.! It’s a game called playing “possum” in our house. Who can pretend they are asleep more soundly while the dog is crying and tipping his head at you!

Oh by the way, we graduated on this day in 1990, 17 years ago today! (June 3, 1990) Sorry, this is your “feeling really old moment for the day”!
I think about it every year. On June 2 was my open house and June 3 we graduated. That was basically half my life ago . . . .
